The coronavirus pandemic
is having an increasing impact on the economy and functioning of companies, including those operating in the biomass sector.
The transport of goods to and from Italy and other European countries is severely affected. For this reason, UK wood fuel suppliers like Woodyfuel have taken steps to ensure a continuous supply of biomass for heating to essential organisations and businesses already under enormous stress due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Wood fuel suppliers role during Coronavirus outbreak
Biomass is a necessary energy resource. Particularly for rural areas where large-scale agricultural food producers, currently crucial to the UK’s food supply chain, require wood fuel for their heating demands. Supermarket chains have over 100 stores heated with wood fuel, and the UK’s poultry industry requires about 20k tons of wood pellet every year to sustain their operations.
Current annual wood pellet demand in the UK requires around 700,000 tonnes of biomass to meet the heating needs of the businesses. The number, however, is likely to rise due to the increase of remote working from home.

Continued supply of biomass resources
Woodyfuel will continue to supply wood fuel to the front line businesses and organisations. To ensure the safety of our employees and customers, we have implemented safety rules in accordance with the government’s guidance regarding Covid-19. If anything changes we will keep you updated.
